Blues Blaze 2010 takes place in New York City from October 1st to October 3rd, 2010.  It promises to be an amazing phenomena with the top blues dance instructors in the world!  Steven Mitchell & Virginie Jensen are back again with us this year.  They are long revered around the world as the top instructors for both lindyhop and our dance, blues.  Steven&Virginie's Website.   Damon Stone and Heidi Fite are among those responsible for the current national blues dance phenomena that has swept the USA.  They are the driving forces behind BluesSHOUT (formerly, Cheap Thrills) and Down Home Blues.  About Damon &Heidi   Joe Demers and Danielle Hatley are lindyhop teachers who have bursted out as extremely popular blues dance instructors.  They have been teaching in both Canada and the USA and are known for vintage blues and guru ability to give workshop participants useful dancing tools.  Joe&Nelle's Website

3-TRACKS:  ADVANCED, INTERMEDIATE, BEGINNER
This year there will be three tracks - Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner.  Your track is determined by the instructors.  Dancers who are already familiar to the instructor team may bypass auditions with the recommendation of a member of the instructor tracking team.

BLUES DANCE COMPETITIONS:

Want to challenge your blues dancing?  We will have 3 open competitions - Solo Blues; Open Jack & Jill (enter individually) and Strictly Blues (enter as partnered couples).   All are free to enter the open competitions.  For the more seasoned and accomplished blues dance competitors - Championship Jack &amp Jill.  Competitions will take place at the Friday and Saturday night dances.  Preliminaries for the Open Jack &Jill and Open Strictly will be at Dancesport on Saturday Oct 2nd after the day's workshop ends.  Feel free to watch the YouTube videos of last year's competitions (see right column of this page).

NIGHT DANCES - BANDS & DJs:

The weekend features four dances - Friday Main Night Dance, Friday Late Night Dance, Saturday Main Night Dance and Saturday Late Night Dance.   The weekend's bands are the fabulous dancer-musicians of Boston, The Fried Bananas playing for the Friday main night dance; and, an exciting combination of St. Louis Diva, Kim Massie singing with local favorite, the Gordon Webster Blues Sextet at Saturday's Main Night Dance.   Each night main dance is followed by a late night dance at Manhattan Ballroom dje)d by  amazing DJs from across the country - Rayned Wiles (Baltimore); Greg Avakian (Philly); Chris Oksanen (New Haven); Jennifer Shortway (NYC/New Jersey); and Duane Grover (DC).
