"Jazz 'n Blues Soiree" - a Yehoodi Tenth Anniversary celebration featuring the Marcus Printup Quartet & vocalist Champian Fulton

ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2008

It's Yehoodi's tenth anniversary and JookJoint Shimmy Blues brings you the best in Marcus Printup Quartet and vocalist Champian Fulton.

MARCUS PRINTUP QUARTET- Blue Note Records (UK) describes Marcus Printup as "one of the more rapidly developing and superbly equipped emerging talents in all of jazz." He currently plays in Wynton Marsalis' Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Marcus Printup has played with such formidable jazz forces as Marcus Roberts, Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, and Wycliffe Gordon. See, picture of Marcus' latest album.

CHAMPIAN FULTON - Referring to Champian's voice, Mark Stryker writes of "the charismatic snap of her phrasing and diction, her conversational expression and suppleness of swing." Champian has played with famous jazz artists like Louis Hayes, Jimmy Cobb, Frank Wess, and Lou Donaldson. She also regularly performs at Birdland Jazz Club with David Berger & the Sultans of Swing, a band with which we in the NYC swing scene are already familiar. Marcus Printup Quartet together with Champian Fulton promises an exceptional night of jazz and blues numbers for our dancing pleasure. Get ready for an amazing Yehoodi celebration!

THE WEE HOURS - BLUES, BLUES, BLUES - Yes, the wee, wee hours. Because we are JookJoint Shimmy Blues, we want to satisfy the hardcore bluesers we know and love. Therefore, we end the night into the morning with highly talented blues djs. Our DJs will be Bill Speidel (Norfolk, VA) and Kelly Edmonston (NY, NY). DJs will also play band breaks.
